The Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership programme A new era of digital platforms in music e-education NERa (2020-1-HU01-KA226-HE-093947), coordinated by Eszterházy Károly Catholic University in Eger, was successfully completed on 31 May 2023. The two-year project brought together nearly half a hundred teachers and students from the seven partner institutions (Conservatorio Perosi Campobasso, Conservatorio Respighi Latina, University of Rzeszów, Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, Babeş-Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca, Zeneiroda Kft. Budapest, EKCU).

The aim of the consortium's work was to equip music education and training systems with the tools needed to cope with the recent sudden shift to online and distance learning. In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, the need to modernise and digitally transform education and training systems and to strengthen the capacity of institutions to deliver high quality, inclusive digital education has become more urgent. The participating institutions worked on three intellectual products over the 24 months. They created an audio database with more than 300 audio recordings of instrumental, vocal and choral works by 44 composers, enabling them to learn and practice works without partners in crisis situations. A methodological manual for using and creating the database was produced, and a hybrid curriculum combining online and face-to-face teaching elements was developed.

The results have been disseminated to the general public through concerts and online broadcasts of the Learning/Teaching/Training Activities, academic publications and conference presentations. In the spring of 2023, the consortium members organised 5 multiplication workshops in the partner countries, where an invited audience of more than 100 people (representatives of educational and academic organisations, stakeholders, active musicians, IT professionals) could test the intellectual outputs. The events of the programme can be followed and the intellectual outputs tested on the website www.uni-eszterhazy.hu/nera. The results of the project have also been presented on public radio and television programmes in the partner countries.

The NERA programme, as a partnership focused on the development of digital literacy for arts professionals and arts education, has contributed both to addressing the major societal challenges posed by the global crisis in the cultural and creative sectors, and to raising awareness of the opportunities created by the crisis. The cross-sectoral cooperation has complemented efforts to help the cultural and creative sectors emerge from the crisis in a more digital and resilient way, thus contributing to the EU’s strategic priorities.
