International Summer Master Classes FMU AU

From July 3 to July 6, 2025, the second edition of the International Summer Master Classes took place under the guidance of lecturers Marián Lapšanský (piano), Ivica Gabrišová (flute) and Štefan Kocán (classical singing). As part of the courses, on July 3 - 7 July 2025, a concert by the lecturers will take place, and on 6 July 2025, a final concert by the participants. Course participants will receive certificates of completion of the master classes.

The international summer master classes of the Faculty of Performing Arts of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica offer advanced professional training to domestic and foreign students of higher and secondary schools. The education will be full-day workshops with top lecturers - internationally renowned performers. The aim will be to provide students with new ideas and to allow them to experience the artistry of the lecturers at a concert. The organiser also aims to transfer the ideas from the lessons to the concert stage at the final concert of the participants. Both concerts, as well as the workshops themselves, will be open to the public.

→ INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
Each active participant will receive one lesson per day with a lecturer. The maximum number of active participants is eight students per lecturer.
After completing the courses, active participants will receive a certificate of active participation in the master classes signed by the lecturer.
The courses do not cover meals or accommodation for participants. Accommodation can still be arranged at the Academy of Arts Student Residence, part of the Academy of Arts building, subject to availability. There are plenty of dining options in the vicinity. The academy building is located within walking distance of the historic city centre.

Fee for active course participants: € 50
The fee must be paid to the Concert Association at the Faculty of Performing Arts in Banská Bystrica account within 10 days of confirmation of participation (the account number will be provided by email).
→ COURSE SCHEDULE
July 3 – 6, 2025 Lessons with lecturers will take place in the concert halls and premises of the Faculty of Performing Arts of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, Kollárova 22, in morning and afternoon blocks..
July 4, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Course lecturers will introduce themselves at an evening concert (time and place to be confirmed later).
July 6, 2025 Final afternoon concert by participants (performances by participants selected by the lecturers) in the Chamber Hall of the FMU AU. After the concert, all participants will receive certificates of completion.
→ LECTURERS
Marián Lapšanský (SK) is a renowned Slovak musician, piano virtuoso and respected artist. He studied piano at the Bratislava Conservatory and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Prof. Lapšanský has an extensive concert and pedagogical activity. His artistic career as a soloist and a perceptive chamber musician has gained a broad international reach. He has taught at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and held the position of General Director of the Slovak Philharmonic. He is the artistic director and organiser of the Johann Nepomuk Hummel International Competition. He is currently teaching at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica.
Ivica Gabrišová (SK) is a leading Slovak flautist. She studied flute at the Conservatory in Bratislava. She was an exceptional student at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest in the class of Gyula Csetényi. She completed her master's studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg (M. M. Kofler). She completed her doctoral studies at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica (V. Kunt). She is a soloist and chamber musician, collaborating with renowned Slovak and foreign artists and chamber ensembles. In addition to her extensive concert activities, she teaches flute at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica and at the Church Conservatory in Bratislava. She is a lecturer at the international summer courses in Bystřice pod Hostýnem (Czech Republic) and director and co-organiser of the international competition FLAUTIADA.
Štefan Kocán (SK) He has performed in the world's most famous and prestigious opera houses. He studied opera singing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava under Hana Štolfová Bandová. He continued his vocal studies at the Vienna Conservatory under the guidance of world-renowned Russian bass Jevgenij Nesterenko. He is a laureate of many international competitions. He has sung in the most important European and Italian theatres, at the State Opera and National Theatre in Prague, and at the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava. In 2009, he debuted at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and in 2011 at La Scala in Milan. He also regularly performs in concerts. He performs in significant vocal-instrumental works and in chamber concerts with piano accompaniment. His chamber repertoire includes songs and song cycles by various composers from different stylistic periods and nationalities.
→ PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT
Piano accompanists will accompany flautists and singers during course lessons and at the final concert of the course participants.
Helen Tsiareshchanka
studied piano and composition at the Belarusian State Academy of Music from 2004 to 2010. After her studies, she was a lecturer at the M. I. Glinka State Music School in Minsk. She accompanied children's choirs. As an accompanist, she has won numerous diplomas at many music competitions. She authorises musical works in the chamber, instrumental, opera and symphonic music genres. Since 2023, she has been working at the Department of Piano Accompaniment at the Faculty of Performing Arts of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica.
Zuzana Výbošťoková
Zuzana Výbošťoková studied at the Conservatory in Žilina and then at the Academy of Arts in the class of Prof. Zuzana Niederdorfer Artd. Immediately after her studies, she specialised in piano accompaniment, already as an accompanist at the Department of Piano Accompaniment in Banská Bystrica. She focuses primarily on piano accompaniment with woodwind and brass instruments.
